Dr Susan Edwards

Clinical Psychologist

Susan is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology with 20 years experience, specialising in the treatment of anxiety in adults. She worked at the internationally renowned Macquarie University Anxiety Research Unit (now the CEH) for over 10 years, running group programmes and working with individuals across the lifespan, as well as supervising psychologists and students. 


Susan has also worked in private practice for 10 years, and uses a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), schema therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavioural skills.  She is passionate about improving the wellbeing and life satisfaction of the people she works with and she has many years of experience working with adults for difficulties including:


  • Generalised anxiety

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder

  • Social anxiety

  • Panic disorder and agoraphobia

  • PTSD and complex trauma

  • Phobias

  • Health anxiety

  • Depression

  • Pre- and post-natal anxiety/depression

  • Bipolar disorder

  • Grief and loss

  • Life stress/personal development

  • Low self-esteem


Susan is usually available for appointments at the Burleigh Heads Psychology Clinic on Wednesdays, and can provide Medicare rebates to individuals with a mental health care plan and rebates for private health insurance - however please note that at this stage - Susan is unable to accept new clients.
